The City of Torrance is located in the southwestern region of California´s Los Angeles County. It currently ranks as LA County´s seventh largest city with 142,384 residents. It’s namesake is that of Jared Sidney Torrance, an oilman and real estate developer who founded the city in 1911. Torrance was at one time a section of Rancho San Pedro, an 1822 Spanish land endowment, and was publicized as a planned modern neighborhood.
