The City of Redondo Beach is separated into two common-sense areas, North and South, with 190th Street serving as its borderline. South Redondo is home to the pier and harbor center and immediately lies alongside dynamic Hermosa Beach; with PCH running through this area. South Redondo can be intense with eateries and boating events keeping everyone involved and occupied constantly. Inland of PCH are mostly residential homes.

North Redondo, while mostly a residential area, features soredondobeachme of Redondo Beach´s main commercial and industrial space, which includes corporations specializing in aerospace and engineering in keeping with the city´s long aerospace heritage.

Many of the original Arts and Crafts styled homes still abound within Redondo Beach´s neighborhoods, however, these homes are quickly being rebuilt and renovated to suit the modern lifestyles of the many new affluent homeowners that are relocating to the South Bay area. Beachside, large 2-3 bedroom luxury town homes are being developed, and the inland areas mostly have single-family residences. Unlike other beach communities in the area, Redondo Beach is allowed to have living areas and decks situated on their rooftops.

A rejuvenated downtown region of South Redondo is lovingly known as “Riviera Village”, located in the Hollywood Riviera of yesteryear. This area offers residents and tourists a chance to dine, go shopping and connect in a peaceful environment.

With many diverse sports competitions and events, miles upon miles of paved jogging and biking paths, volleyball tournaments, as well as the most ideal surfing conditions set against a striking sandy landscape, Redondo Beach always keeps the tourists and the locals wanting more.

A definite must-see is the Redondo Beach Pier. This horseshoe-shaped pier teems with fishing poles, and occasionally you’ll actually see someone reel in their catch of the day. The Pier features various dining opportunities, a wonderful jazz club and many souvenir establishments, one of which displays a 16-foot great white shark. The Redondo Beach Riviera Village was founded by the same man who founded the town of Apple Valley, California, Newton T. Bass.
