The State of California taxes all land including all things naturally occuring on it or above it. Buildings and other changes or improvments that are afixed to the land and that are tangible. Personal property is taxable.
November 1st of each year, the first half of your property tax is due and becomes delinguent on April 10 each year. If the due date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, or a goverment holiday then the due date is the fallowing business day
55 years and older or Disabled
Homeowner 55 or older can transfer the base year of their existing residence to a new residence within the same county under certain criteria if the other county has adopted an enabbling ordinance. The California Board of Equaliztion issues letters listing the counties that have enabling ordininances. Severly disabled and permanently disabled may transfer an exsiting Prop 13 factored base year value to a replacement residence
