The town of Apple Valley can be found in the area of Victor Valley in California´s San Bernardino

County and lies on the Southern border of the Mojave Desert. It was incorporated on November 14, 1988 and is governed by a town council. The five-member Council votes in a new member each December. Currently, the 2006 mayor is Mark Shoup.

APPLE VALLEY HISTORY

The town of Apple Valley, whose name derives from the flourishing apple orchards found here at the turn of the century, has an early history that includes the discovery of the Native American Indians and the colonizing by Spanish conquistadors, however, Apple Valley´s fate was formed by Newton T. Bass and Bud Westland in 1945. The two oil field wildcatters discovered a way to mine into the High Desert's massive underground water basin and helped pioneer Apple Valley into the premier urban development of the High Desert.

Movie stars in the 1950's considered Apple Valley a veritable playground, and for quite some time has been renowned for its quality of life and has attracted thousands to its beautiful atmosphere and rich leisure opportunities.
